Scrap Sweater

Factory scraps as a feature, not a bug.

Step 1: Concept

Intention

A cosy fleece sweater for the colder seasons. Made from fabrics from previous seasons. But made with a pattern made for movement that minimises the size of pattern elements so more left-over material can be used.

Step 2: Technical Developent

CAD in CLO3D

Working with many materials and colours, the best way to experiment was to build a digital model of the sweater with a virtual representation of each fleece.

Pattern Making

Building from an ergonomic pattern, I cut up the panels further so smaller scraps could be implemented. In total 19 different fleeces were used.

Step 3: Production

Making

The majority is sewn together with double reinforced overlocking and edges are finished with a cover stitch. Logos are applied via heat transfers and the hem with cordlock is finished with metal detailing.
